Taking my Grandad flying post ppl

21 Jun 2009

My Grandad who’s in his 80’s, was a regular at our house on sundays for his roast dinner. As it was Father’s Day, I’d planned with my Dad that we were going to take him up for a flight as something a bit different. We headed up the airport and helped him into the back seat of the plane, (not the easiest to get into if you’re not that mobile), then Dad jumped in next to him, I got in followed by my instructor (as it’d been a while since I flew the PA28, and I didn’t have my SEP rating back at this point).

We took off for short little navigation exercise, heading down to Looe initially, then up to Liskeard, on to Launceston, and then back to Plymouth via Tavistock.

He’s not a man of many words, but was talking about it for days afterwards!
